Community Circles provide a welcoming space to listen and express emotions without fear of judgement. Under the guidance of facilitators, participants can begin to understand the perspectives of others and develop deeper connections to their community. Circles lift up what unites us rather than what divides us while discovering, respecting, and honoring the unique experiences of each person.
Culture is a word that is used often, and shapes our lived experiences, but we rarely discuss the tenets that are actively contributing to impact our workplace culture. Through our exploration of the terms DEI, intentional listening, and purposeful reflection, you will leave with a deeper understanding of how your individual contribution to your workplace impacts the organization as a whole.
This interactive session brings employees together to reflect on how personal backgrounds shape our perspective on an ideal workplace culture. By addressing barriers to inclusive patterns and practices, you can incorporate actionable steps to create welcoming environments. Emphasis will be placed on learning to create spaces that foster an environment that values all voices.
It all starts with implicit bias. This introductory session will help you wrap your mind around our immediate responses in our life experiences. Before we begin to fully understand our individual role in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, we must review how our bias shows up.
This session will begin with self-reflection prompts to gain a deeper understanding of how we react naturally in situations, to then take a more proactive approach of how we would like to show up and take action when challenges or conflicts arise. Then we can move toward accountability and responsibility for how our actions affect our community.
Traditional structures are not diverse, equitable, or inclusive. Building an organization rooted in DEI is intentional and continuous work that includes infusing it into every aspect of the organization. Build DEI goals to make your company accountable and commit to constant evaluation.
Let’s talk about microaggressions. They are found in our daily conversations and in our work environment. Many times they are not meant to be hurtful, but they negatively impact many identities. We will review what microaggressions are, understand our relationship with them, and leave with a better understanding of how to eliminate them.
Through this conversation you will recognize the historical racial inequities that created barriers for multiple races and ethnicities. We will acknowledge trailblazers who paved the way to equitable access, and discuss how that has impacted our working environments.To emphasize intersectionality, a thorough understanding of protected classes will be highlighted.
