Cultivating Better Tomorrows reshapes the dynamics of dance communities to produce environments where all dancers can thrive. Created for students, educators, and professionals, we provide engaging services to dance organizations of all sizes through educational seminars and guided conversations. Cultivating Better Tomorrows is recognized for its authentic and innovative programming rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We are all excited to get back to the studio, even though we may have some anxiety regarding the pandemic and racial uprising. Guided conversations provide the time and space to center ourselves and connect with others about experiences in our communities. We’ll discuss how we are feeling, what we can accomplish as individuals, and how your studio can support you moving forward. This session will give all members of the community a chance to be heard and acknowledge that this work will be continued together.
Racial Healing Circles provide a safe space to listen and express emotions without fear of judgement. Under the guidance of facilitators, participants can begin to understand the perspectives of others and develop deeper connections to their community. Intricately woven into the session, the racial component is present, though not at the forefront of the conversation. This purposefully reminds us that we all have painful experiences and reaffirms the humanity in all of us. Circles lift up what unites us rather than what divides us while discovering, respecting, and honoring the unique experiences of each person.
Although we can't dismantle racism in one session, we can begin to define it's foundation and explore how it affects the students we interact with. We will learn to develop an anti-racist lens in our communities through discussion and application highlighting Anti-Blackness. This frame of reference will serve as the catalyst to provide exceptional experiences for all students.
After we have developed shared understandings through “Defining an Anti-Racist Environment” we will begin to focus on strategy. We will recognize structural inequities and learn how to create and foster a culture that values racial equity. By examining current policies, procedures, and practices, we will produce environments where all students can thrive.
